Origin of Rosedale

Rosedale is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland. As of 2010, the population of this census-designated place was 19,257 people. It is said that Rosedale got its name from a young Englishman name Dale who had many roses on his farm. The community of Rosedale was made up of plantations and farms. In the late 1800s, immigrants from Germany and Poland were seen migrating to the area. The first school in Rosedale was built on the corner of Hamilton Ave. and Philadelphia Rd. It was a wooden building with two rooms. In the 1950s, the development of residential buildings started happening in major cities and suburbs in Baltimore. Since then, Rosedale has grown and become a suburban community located near Dundalk.

Based on the 2010 census, there are 19,257 people living in the community of Rosedale, MD.  The racial makeup of this community was:

Located in the Rosedale branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, Storyville is an interactive learning center for children under 5-years-old. The center has a baby garden, toddler woods or bay area, grocery store, mailroom, puppet stage and theatre, home living area, construction zone, and library. The area was created to promote early literacy and school readiness skills.
