A History of Pikesville

Pikesville was named after the American soldier and explorer Zebulon Pike. Pikesville is one of the many things that has been named after him. The existence of Pikesville dates back to 1695. Two hundred years ago, Fort Garrison was built as one of the first establishments of Pikesville. It, and two other forts, were used to protect frontier settles in Maryland. Located on Garrison Farms Court, this historic fortification building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Now, one of the commercial revitalization districts in Baltimore County, Pikesville is growing and prospering.

Demographics

As of 2010, the community of Pikesville has a population of 30,764 people. The racial makeup of the census-designated place being:

Pikesville's Recreational Activities

As one of the many parks in Baltimore County, Blue Stone Park caters to residents and visitors around the Pikesville area. Blue Stone Park is a 7-acres private park that's open to the public. There are various benches scattered throughout the park to sit and admire the greenery and take in the lake scenery. A part of the Blue Stone Park is the Quarry Lake Walk. It's a two-mile trail for people to walk their dogs, jog, hike, or go road biking. It's accessible year-round.
