About Linthicum Heights

Linthicum – Linthicum Heights, according to the U.S. Postal Services – was established in 1801 after Abner Linthicum purchased land in the area of present-day Linthicum Heights. However, the community didn't start developing until the founding of "Linthicum Heights Company" in 1908. Currently, Linthicum Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland located near the town of Glen Burnie. Located at 39.12 degrees north latitude and 76.39 degrees west longitude, Linthicum Heights is an unincorporated community directly north of the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. In 2006, the Linthicum Heights Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The area is home to major companies like Ciena and Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. Some notable people who once lived in Linthicum Heights are television writer Rafael Alverez, National Security Agency Deputy Director John C. Inglis, U.S. Army colonel Leonard T. "Max" Schroader, Jr., Playboy Playmate Dorthy Mays, puppeteer Bernard H. Paul, and Major League Baseball All-Star Game player Jim Spencer.
