Ferndale is a census-designated place(CDP) in northern Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It includes the smaller communities of Woodlawn Heights, West Dale Park, Allwood and Woodcrest. The CDP is bounded by the following:
It lies adjacent to the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on the west, across Aviation Blvd. Surrounding neighborhoods include Glen Burnie, Linthicum Heights, BWI Business District, Arundel Hills, Arundel Gardens, Acresville, Willowdale and Meadow Brook. Ferndale has a total area of 4.0 square miles that consists of all land. As of the 2010 census, its population was 16,746 people.

Ferndale is part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools District. Many of the schools designated to the students living in the CDP are located within the area. These schools include:
North County High School is the only high school in Ferndale. It was established in 1990 as a merger of Andover High School and Brooklyn Park High School. Serving grades 9 to 12, it is the primary high school for those who live in Brooklyn Park, Linthicum, Ferndale, and portions of the Hanover and Glen Burnie areas. The high school has a rigorous STEM Magnet Program and the Internation Trade, Transportation and Tourism (IT3) Signature Program. It also offers sports such as:

Pleasantville Park is a neighborhood park on Casual Ct., in Ferndale. Situated along Interstate 97, to the left of Hilltop Elementary School, it is managed by the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks. The park is open from dawn to dusk and offers a baseball field, paved trail and basketball courts.
North Glen Park is another park in Ferndale. Located southeast of Pleasantville Park, it can be found on Gordon Dr. near George Cromwell Elementary School. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Recreation amenities provided are three baseball fields, basketball courts, a multi-purpose field, a picnic area, rebound courts, paved and natural trails, and restrooms. North Glen Park is also home to the North Glen Disc Golf Course.
Cromwell Field Shopping Center is one of four shopping areas in Ferndale. It is located on Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., between Eastern Blvd. and 8th Ave. NW. The center is occupied by A Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, Escape Complex Escape Rooms, Games and Stuff, Champion Liquor, Roses Discount Store, House Of Tropicals, America's Best Wings, and many more. The other shopping areas in the CDP are Chesapeake Square, Arundel Plaza and Beltway Crossing Shopping Center.
