Hillcrest Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) located at 38.838212 degrees north latitude and 76.959795 degrees west longitude. The unincorporated area is part of Prince George's County, Maryland, and is the birthplace of former National Football League (NFL) linebacker Julian Petterson.

As of the 2010 census, Hillcrest Heights has a total population of 16,469 people and a total area of 2.4 square miles. It mainly consists of single-family rambler and duplex homes that were built between the 1950s and 1960s. Hillcrest Heights is bordered by the communities of Glassmanor, Suitland, Silver Hill and Marlow Heights. It is served by the Prince George's County Public Schools District and zoned for Hillcrest Heights Elementary School, Panorama Elementary Schoo, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Potomac High School and Crossland High School.
The Shops at Iverson was open in 1967 as the Iverson Mall. It was the first climate-controlled and fully enclosed shopping mall in Washington, D.C. The midsize two-level shopping mall is located at the intersection of Branch Ave. and Iverson St. The first anchor stores to be featured were Montgomery Ward and Woodward & Lothrop. By the 1950s, these two stores were closed down and replaced by discount department stores. Currently, The Shops at Iverson offers the following stores and dining options:

The Oxon Run Neighborhood Park is owned and operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Situated on Oxon Run Dr., it is larger than a football field. The neighborhood park includes a playground, open recreational space, tennis court, baseball and softball diamond, basketball court, park benches and tables, grills and picnic areas.
Also located at the Oxon Run Neighborhood Park is the Hillcrest Heights Community Center. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays. It provides amenities such as a computer lab, dance room, fitness room, gym, kitchen, and multipurpose room. The Hillcrest Heights Community Center also offers a Seniors program and Xtreme Teens programs for residents in the area.
