Maplewood-Atla Vista Local Park is a 10.3-acre park in Alta Vista. It was acquired by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in two rounds. The first part was acquired in 1957 and the second in 1960. Operated by Montgomery Parks, it features a playground, basketball court, tennis court, softball field and football field. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Its lighted courts are open until 11 p.m.
The Rock Creek Dance Academy is a dance school adjacent to the Maplewood-Alta Vista Local Park. It was established by Christina Prete to provide students of all ages with high-quality dance education in a nurturing, non-competitive environment. The school offers classes in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and Choreography. Occasionally it also offers Modern Dance, Little Dancers, Character and Folk Dance, and Music and Movement for Toddlers. Tuition rates for Rock Creek Dance Academy range from $135 to $990.
