Todd Farmhouse

Found on North Point Rd., the Todd Farmhouse is a 2 and 1/2-story historic home in Edgemere, Maryland. The property includes several farm buildings and a family cemetery. The original Todd House that Thomas Todd built when he purchased the land in 1664 was burned by the British during the War of 1812. In 1816, the house was rebuilt. It was later remodeled in 1867 and 2009. Initially a Federal architecture style home, the brick dwelling now features aspects of the Italianate architecture style, like a steeply pitched gable roof. The Todd House is now owned by the State of Maryland and is part of the annual Defenders Day celebrations held in Sept. The Maryland Department of Natual Resources oversees the property, and the Todd's Inheritance Historic Site, Inc. volunteer group is responsible for its daily operations. In 1973, the Todd Farmhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
