This census-designated place (CDP) has a total area of 2.1 square miles. Neighborhoods surrounding the area include Temple Hills, Woods Corner, Gordons Corner, Silver Hill and Hillcrest Heights.
In 2010, the U.S. Census recorded a total population of 5,618 people living in Marlow Heights. Families with children in the neighborhood are served by the Prince George's County Public Schools District. Schools zoned for the areas are Barnaby Manor Elementary School, Hillcrest Heights Elementary School, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Thurgood Marshall Middle School, Crossland High School and Potomac High School.
Marlow Heights Shopping Center was first established in 1957. In 1960, with the addition of Hecht Company, it was expanded. The shopping center is currently located on Branch Ave. and caters to the residents of the surrounding areas. Featuring specialty shops and dining options, Marlow Heights Shopping Center consists of a Dollar Tree, Cameron's Seafood, Adance Auto Parts, Marlow Cinema 6, Finish Line, Taco Bell, Szechwan Hunan, Giant Food, Marlow Liquors, Rainbow Shops, America's Best Wings and Domino's Pizza.
Situated across the street from the Marlow Heights Shopping Center is the Marlow Heights Community Center. Operated by the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, the community center can be found on Saint Clair Dr. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays and Fridays, it is open from noon to 8:30 p.m. On Sundays, it is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community center is closed on Saturdays. Amenities featured here are:
The Marlow Heights Community Center also offers a Seniors program and Xtreme Teens programs for the residents in the area.
Also operated by the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation is the North Barnaby Splash Park. The seasonal outdoor park can be found on Wheeler Rd. on the western edge of Marlow Heights. It features a 25-meter swimming pool, a wading pool, water slides, and a climbing wall. North Barnaby Splash Park is open Saturdays through Thursdays from non to 5:45 p.m. On Fridays, it is open from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
