Waker Mill's education system is a part of the Prince George's Public School District. Elementary schools set in this school district are Concord, John Bayne, Doswell, Brooks and District Heights. The majority of 6th to 8th graders living in this community attend Walker Mill Middle School; however, a small portion of them attend Drew-Freeman Middle School. This aspect is also present in the high schools designated for the area of Walker Mill. Most students are zoned to Central High School, whereas some are zoned to Suitland High School.
Walker Mill Regional Park, located minutes away from the Capital Beltway, encompasses around 500 acres of land. A percentage of this land was used for the development of the recreational amenities that occupy this park. These amenities are accessed on the south side of Walker Mill Rd.
