Woodend Sanctuary is a nature preserve in North Chevy Chase. It is the headquarters of the Audubon Naturalist Society and is open daily from dawn to dusk. Admission into the nature preserve is free. The Woodend Sanctuary offers visitors wildflower meadows, woodland trails, native plant gardens and a pond with aquatic life.
Also included at the preserve is the Audubon Naturalist Shop. It is housed in the historic Georgian mansion that was once part of the 40 acres estate of Chester and Marion Wells. The shop is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Products sold at the Audubon Naturalist Shop are birdseeds, feeders & houses, suet & seed cakes, books, coffee, puzzles, boxed notecards, camp & children's items, and binoculars & scopes.
North Chevy Chase Local Park is a neighborhood park on Jones Bridge Rd. It is operated by Montgomery County's Montgomery Park and is open from sunrise to sunset. Recreational amenities featured at the park are a baseball field, soccer fields, a playground, a tennis court and a public activity building.
