In 1941 the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company was founded for civil defense during World War II. After the war ended, the fire company started serving the local community. This volunteer department is joined by 32 other volunteer companies in Baltimore county.
The Lorraine Park Cemetary Gate Lodge is a historic gatehouse in Queen Anne-style stone. It was constructed in 1884 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Also listed on the register in 1985 is St. Mary's Episcopal Church. It was built in 1873 and featured Carpenter Gothic styling.
