The main roads serving the area are E. Eager St., Ashland Ave., E. Madison St., E. Monument St., N. Luzerne Ave., N. Glover St., N. Linwood Ave., N. Curley St., and Edison Hwy.
Most of the Madison-Eastend neighborhood is located within the East Monument Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on December 8, 2009. The district is historically significant because of the large Czech-American immigrant community that used to live in the area. Like the surrounding neighborhoods, Madison-Eastend had transitioned into a majority African American neighborhood by the 1970s and 1980s.
Today, the neighborhood offers its residents an urban-suburban mix area feel. 74% of the people living in the community rent their homes, with the average rent price being $1,099. The average home value is $92,255, which is lower than the national average of $217,500. Residential properties in the area typically sit on average-sized and include three bedrooms and one bathroom. The median income of a household in Madison-Eastend is $27,869. The neighborhood is part of the Baltimore City Public Schools District.
The Bocek Recreation Center is a newly renovated recreational space in the Madison-Eastend neighborhood. Owned and operated by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, it had its grand reopening recently on April 22, 2021. The interior renovation of the center includes a new lobby and teen space, community room, computer labs and restrooms. In addition, designs were made to accommodate an addition of a gymnasium in the future.
Situated next to the Bocek Recreation Center is the Frank C Bocek Park. The no-frills city park is also managed by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks and is open every day from dawn to dusk. It offers residents in the community a fenced-in open space, football fields, a baseball diamond, a soccer field, basketball courts, a pavilion, park benches, picnic tables, and a playground.
