Demographics

According to the 2000 census, 11,104 people were living in the town of Walker Mill, MD. The population density equates to 3,523.2 people per square miles. The average age of residents living in Walker Mill was 32 years old. The racial makeup of this CDP was:

• 1.68% Two or More Races
• 0.90% Hispanic or Latino of Any Race

Education

Waker Mill's education system is a part of the Prince George's Public School District. Elementary schools set in this school district are Concord, John Bayne, Doswell, Brooks and District Heights. The majority of 6th to 8th graders living in this community attend Walker Mill Middle School; however, a small portion of them attend Drew-Freeman Middle School. This aspect is also present in the high schools designated for the area of Walker Mill. Most students are zoned to Central High School, whereas some are zoned to Suitland High School.

Walker Mill Regional Park

Walker Mill Regional Park, located minutes away from the Capital Beltway, encompasses around 500 acres of land. A percentage of this land was used for the development of the recreational amenities that occupy this park. These amenities are accessed on the south side of Walker Mill Rd. The park is open 24 hours a day, from Monday to Saturday, and from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. on Sundays. Amenities included are:
