Goodacre Knolls is a neighborhood in Silver Spring, Maryland. It is surrounded by the communities of Highland View, Queen Annes, Sligo Park Hills, Kilmarock, Browns Corner, Clifton Park Village and Montgomery Knolls. Downtown Silver Spring is two miles west of Goodacre Knolls. The main roads serving the area are Sligo Creek Pkwy., E. Wayne Ave., Flower Ave., and Piney Branch Rd.
The median real estate price of the neighborhood is $310,357. This is 58.7% less expensive than other Maryland neighborhoods and 40.1% less expensive than all U.S. neighborhoods. The median rental price is $1,807. The densely urban neighborhood is primarily made up of small studio to two bedrooms and medium-sized three to four bedrooms homes. Most of the residential properties were built between 1940 and 1969. Some newer ones were built between 1970 and 1999. 73.7% of them are apartment complexes or high-rise apartments, which is more than 96.2% of other neighborhoods.
Silver Spring International Middle School is the 65th best public middle school in Maryland, according to Niche. Located on Wayne Ave., it is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools System. This is the same as any other school serving the area of Goodacre Knolls. Silver Spring International Middle has an enrollment of 1,125 students in grades sixth through eighth. There is a student-to-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Based on state test scores, 43% of the students are proficient in reading and 32% are in math. The school has an overall Niche grade of a B plus and a GreatSchools rating of a 6 out of 10.
Dale Drive Neighborhood Park is one of the oldest parks in Montgomery County. It was acquired by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in 1931. The 2.3-acre park offers:
The park also features a small creek for those who want to enjoy some water time. Dale Drive Neighborhood Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The lighted courts stay open until 11 p.m. The park can be found on Dale Dr. near Piney Branch Rd.
Sligo Cabin Neighborhood Park is another old park in the M-NCPPC system. Located adjacent to the Silver Spring International Middle School, it was acquired in 1932. The acquisition of the park included a cabin on the property. However, this cabin is no longer there. Today, the park features a playground and picnic area and is open every day from dawn to dusk.
Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park is operated by the M-NCPPC and operated by Montgomery Parks. Located on Garland Ave., in Goodacre Knolls, the park is open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It offers an outdoor basketball court, tennis court, playground and an outdoor practice wall.
