About Randallstown

In the 18th century, Randallstown was founded by two brothers, Thomas and Christopher Randall. They built a tavern on Liberty Rd., making Randallstown a resting area for travelers on their passage from east to west. The town was subsequently named after them. Today, Randallstown is a suburban unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland. In the 1900s, Randallstown became a majority African American community. Now it's known for being ethnically diverse.

Demographics

Based on the 2010 census, there are 32,430 people living in the community of Randallstown, MD. This includes 13,966 males and 18,464 females. The average age of residents living in Randallstown is 42.1 years old. The racial makeup of this community is:

Historical Landmark: Choate House

Choate House is a historic home in the neighborhood of Randallstown. Located on Liberty Rd, the 2 1/2-story gable-roofed stone building was built in 1810. In 1880, a porch and dormers were added to the building, making it a more Italianate style to showcase the Italian influence in the area. In the 1920s, Craftsman interior works were added to the building. This reflected another period of change occurring in Baltimore County. The county is no longer rural; it's now moving into the modern era. The Choate Households much significance because it is one of the only buildings in Baltimore County that still exemplifies the rural dwellings that Baltimore County had during the 19th and early 20th century.
