Short Description of Riva

Riva, Maryland, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County. Located at 38.952079 degrees north latitude and 76.582135 degrees west longitude, the CDP is bounded by Edgewater to the east, Davidsonville to the west, and Annapolis to the north.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Riva has a total area of 2.9 square miles, with 2.5 square miles being land and 0.46 square miles being water. In 2010, the area had a population of 4,076 residents. This is an increase from the 3,966 people recorded in the 2000 census. Peter Bondra – a notable former NHL player and general manager of the Slovakia men's national ice hockey team – and his family currently reside in Riva.

Aisquith Farm E. Archeological Site

Located in Riva is the Aisquith Farm E. Archeological Site. The site is associated with the cultural development in the early and mid-Woodland periods of Anne Arundel County. As a base camp property type, it serves as an example of prehistoric human adaptation to the coastal plain environment. It is one of several small sites on Aisquith farm. On November 8, 1991, the Aisquith Farm E. Archeological Site was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Mike's Restaurant & Crabhouse

Mike's Restaurant & Crabhouse is a traditional Maryland-style seafood restaurant located on the banks of the South River in Riva, near Jacob's Point cape. Established in 1958, the restaurant serves mussels, oysters, clams, shrimps, crabs, lobsters, scallops, salmon, tuna, mahi mahi, and tuna in all forms. For non-seafood lovers, the restaurant has steaks, chicken, salads, pizzas, soups and sandwiches.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mike's Restaurant & Crabhouse also offers catering, banquet areas for renting, and a packaged goods store. The packaged goods store is accessible by car or boat and sells items such as wine, beer, liquor, deli foods, menu items, cool refreshments, snacks, ice and many more.
