Why this matters more than it sounds
An injury claim is built almost entirely out of description. Where the pain is, what it stops you doing, what the other driver did, what you told the doctor and when. Those details decide what a claim is worth.
When they pass through a family member acting as interpreter — often a teenage child, which we see constantly — they get shortened and softened. Symptoms get rounded off. Something embarrassing gets left out. None of that is anyone's fault, and all of it costs.
It matters with insurers too. An adjuster who senses a language gap has an easier time getting a recorded statement that says less than it should, or more than you meant.

Immigration status
People sometimes do not call at all because they are worried about their immigration status, particularly after a work injury. It is worth saying plainly: injured people have rights, and the conversation with us is free and confidential and commits you to nothing.
