Besides the Downtown Silver Spring two-level shopping mall, the area also offers Ellsworth Place. The five-story shopping mall is located on Coleville Rd., adjacent to the other shopping mall. It includes a Panera Bread, American Institute for Radiologic Pathology, Balc Box Theatre, AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, Starbucks, Lincoln's Bar-B-Que, Michaels, Burlington, Dave & Buster's, Kung Fu Tea, Red Lobster, Vu Tim OD, BIBIBOP Asian Grill, Marshalls, Blue Pearl Buffet & Grill, Chipotle Mexican Grill and many more.

Silver Plaza

The Silver Plaza, or Fountain Plaza, is an area in Downtown Silver Spring that provides visitors with an outdoor venue for dining, attending events, and spending quality time with others. It features a mosaic fountain and stair, the "Silver Creek," that was created by artist Deirdre Saunder in 2004. The award-winning fountain includes fish in soothing blues and greens. During the summer, children can be seen running through and playing in the water. When not being used, the water of the fountain would disappear below the surface. Another artist, Craig Kraft, also has a neon sculpture featured on the elevator tower in the Plaza.

Silver Spring Outdoor Ice Skating Rink

The Silver Spring Outdoor Ice Skating Rink is situated on the corner of Fenton St. and Ellsworth Dr. It is open from noon to 10 p.m. during the weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The rink offers skate rentals, public skating, group lessons and kids' parties. Admission fees are $10 for adults, $9 for children and $9 for seniors. Rentals are $5.

Hassler Park

Hassler Park was established in 1933 on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration headquarters campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. The park honors Ferdinand Hassler, the first Superintendent of the Survey of the Coast. It includes a bronze profile of Hassler, three plaques, and a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey triangulation station disk. The disk sits on top of a granite monument and is stamped "HASSLER 1993."

Kramer Urban Park

Kramer Urban Park is owned and operated by Montgomery Parks. It is located on Second Ave. and is open from sunrise to sunset. The quarter-acre park was acquired by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in 2002. It serves workers and residents of Downtown Silver Spring by providing a paved brick area and park benches.

Royce Hanson Urban Park

The Royce Hanson Urban Park was named after the former Planning Board Chairman, Royce Hanson. It is located adjacent to the M-NCPPC's Montgomery Regional Office – the headquarters for the Montgomery County Department of Park and Planning and Montgomery County Planning Board. Unfortunately, the park has no recreational facilities. However, visitors can enjoy the flower beds in the area and hang out or have lunch at one of the picnic tables.
