Known as the "Gateway to the Nation's Capital," Morningside is a town in Prince George's County, MD. The town was developed with the establishment of Andrews Air Force Base in 1942. It features recreation amenities such as a baseball and softball field, multipurpose field, paved trails, outdoor basketball court, tennis court, outdoor practice wall, playground, picnic tables and grills. The park is operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and requires a permit for organized play. To access Douglas Patterson Park through public transportation, visitors can take the BUS route K12.
Situated between the Capital Beltway Outer Loop and Allentown Rd. is the Andrews Manor Shopping Center. Catering to residents in the area, the east portion of the shopping center is within the boundary of Morningside.
