Out of the 435 students that make up the school, 45% are females, and 55% are males. 75% of the enrollment are minority students, and 47% are economically disadvantaged students. There are 30 full-time teachers and one full-time school counselor. Based on state test scores, 45% of the students are proficient in reading and 51% are in math.
Pinecrest Local Park sits adjacent to Pinecrest Elementary School on Lawrence Dr. The 5.6-acre park was acquired by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in 1944. Amenities featured are a playground, multi-use field, softball field, basketball court and tennis courts. The park also offers the Pinecrest Recreation Building. One of the many shopping areas near that intersection, Woodmoor Shopping Center is the only one that's within the boundaries of the neighborhood.
